Obituary for Margaret Ann Knowles

Knowles, Margaret Ann

On Thursday, November 16th, Marg Ann Knowles passed away at the age of 77, in her home in Whitby, surrounded by loved ones. Marg was a dedicated teacher in Durham Region, touching the lives of many individuals before retiring to enjoy her family, friends and beloved cottage.

Marg is survived by her devoted husband, Bruce, and her children, Deena, Brent, and Glen as well as their spouses Norm, Andrea and Cait. Marg adored her grandchildren Amber, Benjamin, Francesca and Nellie. Marg is also survived by her brother, John Toole.

Marg enjoyed the cottage life (reading, boating & outlasting all friends at the campfire), spending time with her grandchildren(her one and only Grandson, Ben, says ‘I loved her so much and she was a nice person and a great Grandma!’) and spending time at the casino (the luckiest person we knew). She loved being with her friends and family.

Whether you were fortunate enough to be a family member, friend or a new acquaintance of Marg’s, she would always take the time to listen to what you had to say. One of Marg’s greatest qualities was her ability to make each and every person smile and feel better about themselves. Time spent with Marg was always time well spent.

In typical Marg fashion, she was always thinking of others. She left letters for her children expressing her wishes in the event of her passing. She wanted to take the burden of decisions off of them and it was Marg’s wishes to have a private Celebration of Life in her passing.
Marg was passionate about children’s sports, in lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Tire JumpStart program can be made in her honour.
