Obituary for Claus Heinrich Kelling

Claus Heinrich Kelling, of Brooklin, Ontario, died on Friday January 31, 2014 at the age of 87.

He was born on December 13, 1926 in Manila, Philippines to the late Karl and Margarethe Kelling. Claus emigrated from Germany to Canada in 1951 and was soon followed by his late wife, Helga, and his other family members, including his late twin brother, Joachim, his sister-in-law Sonja Kelling and his late sister Renate.

Claus was a long-time employee of General Motors in Oshawa and lived in the same house in Brooklin for 49 years. He was a tireless worker, a loyal husband and a good father. When he wasn't working in or around the house, he enjoyed hunting, fishing and fly-tying.

Claus is survived by his son Bryan and Bryan's 2 children Matthew and Rebecca Kalant-Kelling, and his daughter Karen, his son-in-law Tim and their 2 children Claudia and Anneka Kindrachuk. In his later years after Helga's death, Claus was appreciative of the support he received from family, friends and his wonderful neighbours, whose assistance enabled him to continue to live in his house until his death. We will all miss him.

Family and friends are invited to a reception celebrating Claus's life on Saturday, February 8, 2014, from 1-3pm, at Barnes Memorial Funeral Home 5295 Thickson Rd. N. Whitby 905-655-3662.
