Obituary for James Edward "Jim" French

June 21st, 1922 – February 21st, 2018

(Retired Director of Real Estate and Construction, IBM Canada; WWII RCAF Veteran) – Lovingly comforted by his family, Jim French departed for the best place beyond this world on Wednesday, February 21st, 2018 in his 96th year. The son of Carlisle French and Laura Smith, Jim was predeceased by his siblings, Norma, Bruce and Jack, and in 2005 by the love of his life, his wife of 54 years, Shirley (née Marshall). Jim was a wonderful father to Carl of Hamilton, Leslie, Patricia (Michael Cassidy) and Robert (Ute). A devoted “Pops” who shared his love of life and Fox Point with grand-children Julie (Ryan), Joe (Marissa), and Emilie (fiancé Steven) Garant, and Sheri (Dave) Fox. Great-grandfather to Julian, Camron and Victoria Fox, Charlotte and Annabelle Jankovich, and Harley Garant. A heartfelt thank you to the caring and devoted staff of Yorkshire Place, Fairview Lodge.

Visitation at Barnes Funeral Home, 5295 Thickson Road, Whitby on Friday, February 23rd 4-8 pm., followed by a celebration of life in the Barnes Chapel on Saturday, February 24th at 2 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations to Renaissance Baptist Church, 40 Vipond Rd., Brooklin L1M 1B3 would be sincerely appreciated.
