Dorothy Riddell

On Thursday, August 6, 2020 Dorothy “Dot” Riddell passed away at the age of 97 years.
Dorothy had varied experiences throughout her long life. She once bowled a perfect game, managed high school cafeterias in Scarborough, and later on ran a marina and a motel in the Kawarthas with her husband Roy, all while cheering on her beloved Blue Jays!
Dorothy made the best gravy, and her delicious coleslaw and waldorf salads were always requested at family gatherings. She was always the first in line to clean up, often leaving the kitchen cleaner than when she arrived.
Together Dorothy and Roy, her husband of over 40 years who predeceased her in 1985, raised three sons – Jerry, Bob (Maureen) and Steve (Chris). She will be lovingly remembered by her 3 sons, 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
The Riddell family is very grateful for the exceptional care Dorothy received from the staff on McLaughlin Bay and Lakeview Park at the Chartwell Wynfield Long Term Care facility, which has been her home for the last 4 years.
Dorothy has been cremated and a private family service will be held at Barnes Memorial Funeral Home.
Memorial donations in memory of Dorothy may be made to the Alzheimer Society Durham Region.

Our sympathies to the Riddell family. My fondest memory of Mrs. Riddell is from the many years at the Run For the Cure. i always left her in charge of my meatballs in my crockpot back at Maureen and Bob's home, while we went to do 'the run'. i knew when we went back to the house the meatballs would be just right, as i had left them in good hands. Big virtual hugs to your family xoxo

Sending sincere sympathy and hugs to the Riddell family. Still think of her and Dalton vying for the dishwashing job at family get togethers. Cherish all the good memories.

She was always Mrs. Riddell to me growing up on Rintella Court. I tell our grandkids stories of the many antics carried on by Steven and I, with him getting the strap and me the wooden spoon. They love to hear them ! Having Mrs.. Riddell at our school cafeteria was a perk because I got extra french fries with my serving. The Rintella kids were lucky to have her and Mr. Riddell as a part of our lives growing up--I know it helped make me who I am today. Pat and Mike Thomas
