CLINGEN - June Elisabeth

June died peacefully at her home in Whitby, on Monday, July 20, 2020 at the age of 83 years, following several months of declining health. Her loving husband Ed was by her side. June was the proud and loving mother of Mark (Laurie) of Toronto, and beloved grandmother to Hayden. She was predeceased by her sisters Sharon Chesney (David), Shirley Hansman (Charles), Phyllis “Dode” Burton (Reg), Jean Farnsworth (Gordon), and brother Beverly “Bev” Cottrill (Rilla). She will be sadly missed by her sister Joy Black (Clarence) and her brother Ken Cottrill (Esther). Born and raised as part of a loving family with 8 children in North Bay, June briefly worked at Bell Telephone in North Bay, and EMCO in London, Ontario. Her life took an abrupt turn when her mother and sisters introduced her to the Gospel Hall. This led to her being “saved” on February 7, 1956. June met Ed for the first time at Union Station in Toronto, on her way from London to visit her family in North Bay on December 24, 1963. They fell in love and were married on March 12, 1965. June and Ed moved to Ottawa shortly after that, and Mark was born in 1970. They subsequently lived in Windsor, Bracebridge, and Oshawa before finally settling down in Whitby. A devoted wife, mother and grandmother, June was also an avid knitter and loved taking care of children, especially newborns. She will be missed by her family and friends. There will be a private family service in the Barnes Memorial Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, July 25 at 11am. Interment to follow in Whitevale Cemetery. If desired and in lieu of flowers donations to Alzheimer Society of Toronto will be gratefully acknowledged as expressions of sympathy. Online condolences at

June was such a special lady to many. She was the kindest, sweetest person and our family treasured her. June cared for our daughter Caroline while she and Ed lived in Bracebridge. Not having any family close by, June and Ed became our family. We remained close to them throughout the years and kept in touch wherever they lived. We have so many fond memories of Caroline and June together. Caroline always called her "Juno", and does to this day. Caroline and "Juno" used to watch Barney the Purple dinosaur show together and June would march around the room with Caroline. June was such a gentle soul, and will be greatly missed by our family.

My beautiful Aunt June......You were such a huge part of my childhood, you spent so much time with our family, we all loved having you around, you were loving, kind, funny, sweet and always on my side. My mom used to tell me that when I was bad or crying, you would always say "she;s just tired" I remember your hugs and kisses, your unconditional love and your laughter, you had the best laugh ...I will miss and love you forever...your niece Gail xoxo Uncle Ed, Mark and deepest sympathies ...I love you, thinking and praying for you at this most difficult time xo

Brother Ed. My memory tells me that I first met June at an open air meeting on the Muncey Reservation. That was likely long before you and I first met. As in our phone conversation how beautiful to be absent from the body but to be present with the Lord June loved. We are reminded that blessed in the sight of the Lord is the death of His saints.
