Passed gently on July 22, 2022 in hospital at 83 years old. A beloved husband, father, brother, uncle, and good friend. He is survived by his wife of 55 years Mary, his children Brian (Carolyn) and Catherine (Hugh), and his grandchild Elyse. He is also survived by his brother Don (Jeanne) and nieces Susan (Vanessa) and Sandra (Jason) and their families.

Pre-deceased by his parents Hugh and Aletha.

Ken and Mary were introduced by a family friend matchmaker. They were the love of each other’s lives and rooted their family in Christian faith. It was a home filled with activity, love, and laughter. Ken’s calm, hard working, kind, and good humoured personality was a blessing to all who were privileged to meet him.

Alumnus of the University of Toronto in Math & Physics. A teacher and mentor who made a difference in the lives of many through his work in teaching and administration as Head of the Math Department at Downsview Secondary School. Ken served as a chairperson at Oriole-York Mills United Church. In addition, he enjoyed attendance at Brooklin United Church and First Presbyterian on Hilton Head Island, SC.

Ken loved spending time with family and friends. He could be found attending church, reading, taking photos and making slideshows, gardening, listening to music, playing golf, doing crosswords, taking day trips, watching the news, golf and movies. A dog lover, Ken is greatly missed by a number of family fur-babies.

Ken and Mary delighted in their family and friends from across North America. Many enjoyable hours were spent in fellowship, sharing discussion and food together. The couple travelled by car for over 30 years to Hilton Head Island, SC.

The family would like to express their thanks to the staff at Lakeridge Health Oshawa.

A private family service will be held. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Toronto Humane Society. Condolences may be left on the Barnes Memorial Funeral Home website at https://www.barnesmemorialfuneralhome.com
