Obituary for Verna Maude Attwood (Bray)
It is with great sadness that the family of Verna announce her passing at the Peterborough Regional Hospital on Monday July 24, 2023 at the age of 97. Verna was the beloved wife of the late Harvey Attwood (2001) and loving mom to Kathy (McLauchlan). Much loved grandmother of Cindy (Greg Jones), Terri (Mike Cavanagh) and Kate (Tim Sales). Special GG to Charlie Jones, Brendan Jones, Amelia Sales and Caleb Sales. Beloved aunt to many nieces and nephews.
Verna is survived by one brother, Stewart Bray. She is predeceased by her parents John and Maude Bray and her siblings, Rita, Dorothy, Harold, Jack, Marjorie, Earl, Noreen and Jean.
Verna was a member of Benevolent Rebekah Lodge, No. 132, for 70 years. She was great seamstress and also loved to knit, crochet and smock. Verna enjoyed bingo and later going to casinos including all of the music concerts she could attend.
A service will be held at Barnes Memorial Funeral Home, 5295 Thickson Road North, Whitby, at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday August 3, 2023 with visitation beginning at 11:00 a.m. A Rebekah service will be held prior to the funeral service. Reception will follow after which interment will be at Groveside Cemetery for those who wish to attend.
