Obituary for Vivienne Putnam Eckel (Lewis)

Vivienne Eckel (nee Lewis) passed away at the age of 95 at Hillsdale Estates, Oshawa on Friday Sept 17th, 2021.

Predeceased by her husband Robert Eckel (2008).

Much Loved mother of Sue Levy (Peter) of Maryland, Peter Eckel of Richmond Hill, and Jane Cousineau (Richard) of Brooklin. Grandma of Michelle Wood (Nick), Alex Bone, Eric Cousineau (Rebecca) and Austin Cousineau. Great Grandma to Ava, Olivia, Kaden, Ivy and Clark.

Dear sister of Jack Lewis (Keitha).
Predeceased by her parents Perley and Elsie of Orillia. Predeceased by her brothers Philips Lewis (late Ellen) and Gerald Lewis (late Joan).

Vivienne loved family get togethers and her cookies, pumpkin pies and hot cross buns were always a hit. She was a poet and was always writing poems for special occasions. She was an excellent swimmer and often bragged about swimming across the St Lawrence river. She loved singing in the church choir and continued her singing at the nursing home. Vivienne will be remembered by her beautiful smile.

The family would like to thank the dedication of the staff on Primrose Path in such difficult times. Special thanks to Mel (an angel in disguise), Anthony and Michelle for their incredible kindness.

In memory of Viv, donations may be made to Brooklin United Church or the Alzheimer’s Society.
A private by family invitation only service will be held at Barnes Memorial Funeral Home on Saturday October 23rd. Messages of condolences and shared memories can be left for the family by visiting www.barnesmemorialfuneralhome.com.
