Obituary for William Alan Griner

The Griner family are saddened to announce the passing of Bill (William) Alan Griner. Son of the late William Alfred Griner and Edythe Ruth nee Pallister.
Beloved husband to Helen Marie Nee Pearson and greatest Dad to John and Helena. Loving Grandad to Chloe and Ivy. Fond brother of Audree Wilson and uncle to Pat, Nancy, Susan, Carol and Bill.

Bill grew up in Calgary until his family moved to Toronto in 1952. Sad to leave his friends, Bill completed high school and followed in his fathers footsteps into the high end men’s clothing business. He was an entrepreneur and creative business man, opening stores of his own and he often discussed business strategies and solutions with his friends.

Regarded as a true gentleman with a memorable smile, Bill was a man of few words; but these words came with much wisdom and love.

He was known for his impressive Donald Duck impression, sense of humour and his story telling ability. Famously known for the story of he and his father canoeing on Lake Moraine, where they encountered a feeding moose. As the moose raised its massive head above Bill’s father, soaked with water from the reeds hanging off its impressive antlers, he quietly stuttered, B,b,b,b, back paddle.. b, b, b, back paddle!

Bill enjoyed attending Argo games with his two closest friends and Blue Jays games with his family, for many years. He developed a love for golf, both playing and watching. He especially treasured the time spent on the Green, with his dearest wife Helen, always aiming for that hole in one.

Bill was tremendously loved and will be sorrowfully missed by many. We love you Dad and know you are at peace and smiling again, being reunited with Mum. Forever in our hearts.

Interment to be held at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, followed by a celebration of life to be decided at a later date.
