Explanation of Services

Professional & Staff Services, Co-ordination of Services as requested

Professional consultation with a licensed funeral director, including expert advice on the services options that meet your specific needs

Co-ordination of all services and ceremonies, before, during and after they have been provided, including services and supplies provided by us, as well as those provided by third party suppliers such as flowers and death notices.

Documentation - permits, forms, etc.

Completion and filing of all documents necessary to carry out the services and supplies requested, including death registration, burial permit, coroner’s certificate for cremation, and documentation required for shipment of remains out of the country

Provision of 10 original proof of death certificates issued by Barnes Memorial Funeral Home Ltd. (our proof of death certification are usually accepted for most estate settlement purposes, however, on occasion a provincially issued “Death Certificate” will be necessary and is available from the Office of the Registrar General.

Completion and filing of Canada Pension Plan Benefit Applications

Transportation of Remains – initial (within 25km; additional fees apply beyond 25km)

Transportation of the remains from one place to another, for example the hospital to the funeral home or the funeral home to the crematorium, a charge will apply for each transportation request

Using our unmarked transfer vehicle $225
Using our funeral coach or hearse $450

*After Hours Transportation from place of death – (after 9:00 p.m. and before 9:00 a.m.)
Any transfers from place of death occurring outside our usual office hours, may be subject to an additional staff fee. $ 200.00

Additional Transfer (required for all cremation services) $ 300.00
Additional transfer of remains to crematorium includes return of ashes to funeral home.

Essential Care of Remains (no embalming) $ 250.00
Preparation for placement into casket, including bathing, dressing and setting facial features for identification or viewing without embalming.

Removal and safe disposition of Pacemaker or Defibrillator
Removal of Pacemakers and or Defibrillators are a requirement for all cremation services, safe and provincially approved disposition of such items are required no charge

Embalming – complete preparation $ 350.00
Embalming is a process of Sanitation, restoration and temporary preservation. Embalming is not legally required but may be recommended for open casket services.

Facilities for preparation, embalming and shelter $ 120.00
Facilities used to shelter the remains, prepare and/or embalm.

Staff services for visitation (up to 2 hours) $ 325.00
Staff to coordinate and oversee the visitation for a period up to 2 hours

Use of our visitation suite for a private viewing prior to cremation up to 1 hour

Staff Services for reception (required for all onsite receptions) $ 150.00
Includes a hostess to set up for your reception, overseeing during the reception and cleanup afterwards, up to a maximum of 2.5 hours. (1 Hostess per 100 guests)

Smart Serve Bartender (required for all receptions serving alcoholic beverages) $ 150.00
A certified smart server to manage and oversee alcohol service... 1 for everyone 100 guests.

Special Occasion Permit (required for all receptions serving alcoholic beverages) $ 45.00
Temporary permit from the LCBO to allow for provision and consumption of any alcoholic beverages onsite

Collection and purchase of alcoholic beverages $ 50.00

Facilities for reception (use of George Hall and outdoor Patio) $ 450.00
Use of George Hall for a reception following the ceremony or memorial service, space includes use of our plates, china teacups, mugs, serving platters and serving cutlery if required, up to a maximum of 2.5 hours.

Vehicles

Transfer vehicle (used for all service options) $ 200.00
Use of our unmarked van for transportation of remains from one place to another (for example, from the place of death to the funeral home or from the funeral home to the crematorium)

Funeral Coach (Maximum of 3 hours) $ 450.00 each
Use of our funeral coach or hearse for procession to the cemetery or crematorium.

Administration/Lead car (used for all service options) $ 200.00
Our black Cadillac sedan will be used for filing registration documents, obtaining coroner’s signatures etc.
Our sedan is also used for leading funeral processions

Limousine (Maximum of 3 hours) $ 425.00
Our 7-passenger family limousine, up to a maximum of 3 hours

Limousine overtime charges will apply at a rate of $ 125.00 per hour after the initial 3 hours.

Additional Mileage $ 0.75 / km
Mileage travelled beyond 40 km from the business address will be charged per km.

Stationery

Customized full stationery set, custom designed register book, 100 memorial cards, memory candle, 8x10 framed collage photo and thank you notes.

Barnes Select Menu Package includes: Coffee, Tea, Juice, Assorted Sandwiches, Fresh Fruit, Fresh Vegetables & Dip & Assorted Desserts. (customized options are available, please ask your director)

Self-Catered Events

The Barnes family understands that in some circumstances, families choose to cater their own receptions for various reasons. Your director will explain in detail what will be required for your self-catered event.

Reception facility, room preparation and cleanup $ 595.00

Host/hostess fee if required (maximum of 2.5 hours) 1 host/hostess per 100 guests $ 150.00

Beverages (coffee, tea and juice) $ 2.25/person
Additional beverages such as pop or bottled water etc. may be brought in by the family or billed a-la-carte by the funeral home. If a special occasion permit is required, this must be discussed with your funeral director at time of arrangements and will be subject to permitting fees, special server costs as well as all products purchased in association with your bar service under an approved permit.

Barnes Memorial Funeral Home has designed our Simple Cremation Option to be offered at a reduced cost for our families who wish to have a very simple yet dignified cremation and return of ashes with no formal services taking place therefore no modifications may be made to this service option (excluding merchandise).

We have created two additional services that may be added to our Simple Cremation Option, any other additions or modifications (e.g. visitations / formal services etc.) will void this Service Option and Memorial Service Option pricing will be used.
