(Born in Poland, May 14, 1946, Parishioner at St. Leo the Great Catholic Church for many years, Member of St Leo Choir, Baker extraordinaire, Loved sewing, quilting and canning her many preserves. Owner/operator of Hotner Greenhouse)

With profound sadness we announce the sudden passing of Valerie at her home on Sunday January 31st, 2016 at the age of 69.

Dearly loved wife of John Hotner of Brooklin for 47 years. She is survived by her three children Karen van der Zalm (John) of Port Perry, Martin Hotner (Sandra) of Brooklin and Terry Hotner (Tammy) of Peterborough.
Loved grandmother of Colleen, Felicity, Blake, Kevin, Hayden, Jonathan, Olivia and the late Christopher Hotner. Valerie was predeceased by her parents Jozef and Karolina Gutherc, her brother Edward and sister Maria.

Visitation will be held at Barnes Memorial Funeral Home, 5295 Thickson Rd. N Whitby from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday. Then to St. Leo the Great Catholic Church, 130 Watford Street Brooklin for Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday morning at 10:30 am.

Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery, Whitby. A reception will follow the interment in the Great Hall at St. Leo Parish.
