Past memories

Connie and Joni,

I wanted to write a note to tell you that I have very fond memories of Jeanne from nearly 50 years ago. Your mother was in the Lend a Hand Unit of the Brooklin United Church at that time. We met there and I remember going to your parents home and preparing programs and having tea with her. She was such a welcoming host and one of the kindest persons I knew. At that time Ralph and I had just moved to Brooklin and didn't have many friends so her fellowship was appreciated. Over the years we talked on the phone. I generally wanted to know how you both were doing.  She was such a loving mother and would tell me about each of your talents-Connie wanting to be a teacher (later I taught with Connie at Winchester Public School) Joni I believe that you initially went to the states as few nursing jobs were available up her at that time. I remember how happy she was when you returned home. Connie, I remember working with you at Winchester and what an amazing teacher you were-really dedicated to the children. You also helped a lot with my retirement and I was very grateful for that. Your mother always will have a special place in my heart  as do both of you.

With our regrets,

Connie and Ralph Sweet
