Clive's Early Years
Newborn Clive Owen arrived at 173 Amyand Park Road, Twickenham, Middlesex, England when I was aged 11. His parents Bob and Joyce lived in the apartment above the Johnson family, my parents and brother David. Sadly David died recently and I am now the sole survivor of those two families.
The age difference with Clive meant that we had little social contact, although I can remember some occasional child-minding as I moved into my teens. Our families were great friends; at Sunday morning coffee the house chimed with laughter.
In later years, when I returned to the house with my wife and children to visit my mother, the same happy atmosphere prevailed, and the house had acquired a new visitor – Susan.
It was a great pleasure when Clive and Susan visited me in Cumbria on their UK tour in 2008; and Clive's humour in two recent phone conversations was typical of the man.
Susan – my sincere condolences.
Clive – rest peacefully.
