Condolence From: Sandy and Ron Hodder, Dodsworth Drive, Ajax
Condolence: Dear Barb and Family:
Ron and I are shocked and saddened to hear this terrible news of Kevin. We have only fond memories of Kevin and yourself from years ago when we first met you when you were visiting your dear friends Shawn and Leanne Auld who were also our dear neighbours who lived right across the street from us on Dodsworth Drive in Ajax. The first time we met the both of you was when Shawn was digging up his driveway to put down new interlocking bricks and Kevin was there to help him with the task. Grant was only a baby at the time happily playing away in his playpen set up on the front lawn as we watched the guys at work. From that day forward we have so many fond memories of Kevin and yourself from when you would come by and visit Shawn and Leanne over the years when The Aulds would host so many of their impromptu events. One such event that clearly stands out in our minds is the one where a birthday party for Sarahs first birthday party old turned into a big bonfire in the middle of their backyard later that evening where Ron and I and other neighbours on Dodsworth Drive were invited to join in. That event turned into a lot of singing, guitar playing, enjoying a few cold ones and just a great time with a visit by the Durham Police helicopter hovering overhead and shining down its bright light onto the roaring bonfire in their backyard. I had one too many cold ones that night and remembr trying to cover up the bonfire with a big golf umbrella and pretended I was Mary Poppins. No visit from the Police though that night as I guess they realize it was just a bunch of neighbours enjoying some good times. Such fun times back then for sure. We got to know Kevin an yourself from then on. When Shawn and Leanne moved off Dodsworth Drive 8 years ago, we lost touch with all their friends but would occasionally see you when we would go for a drive up to Port Perry to pay a visit to The Aulds at their new home on Coatsworth Drive.
Kevin was the quiet one of all Shawns friends. He was such a kind, decent, a real family man who we could clearly see how much he loved you and Grant to bits. He was always there to lend a hand to Shawn whenever it was needed. Then when Shawn and Leanne moved from Port Perry to Oro-Medonte we lost touch with all of their friends and we certainly missed that.
While there are simply no words that can even begin to express our heartbreak and sadness at your loss, we want you to know that we are thinking of you, as well as so many others, who are shocked by this news. We just hope that knowing how so many others are thinking of you, Grant, Destiny and Luke right now will somehow bring you comfort and give you the strength that you need now and in the coming days.
Kevin meant so much to his family and his many friends and will live on in so many fond, fun-filled and loving memories.
Please accept our deepest and sincere sympathies.
Sandy & Ron Hodder and family, Dodsworth Drive, Ajax.
