Lois Ann Mokry (nee McCollom)
October 9, 1932 – September 13, 2016
LOIS ANN MOKRY passed on to God’s care September 13, 2016 at home in Whitby. Lois was preceded in death by Fred Mokry, her loving husband of 57 years, and she is survived by her children Rosanne (Terry) Olmstead, Stephen (Lilly), Karen Mokry Rimland, and predeceased by David. She’ll be honoured in memory by her beloved grandchildren Jessica, Jennifer, Jason (Kristian); Erika, Breanna, Austin; Sebastian, Oskar and Winston.
Lois was born in Calgary to the late Frank and Isobel McCollom. settled in Toronto, and retired in Oshawa. Her personable nature lent itself well to many years of medical reception work. She dedicated personal time to charities throughout her life including the St. Vincent de Paul Society and Big Brothers organization. She enjoyed writing poetry, knitting and loved cooking for family.
She is survived by dear sister Lorraine, predeceased by siblings Frank, Allan, Marguerite. Survived by sister in laws Ella, Dorothy & Polly and lovingly known as ‘Auntie Lois’ to many nieces, nephews and their children.
Friends and family will be received Monday, September 19th from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Barnes Memorial Funeral Home, 5295 Thickson Rd. N., Whitby, 905-655-3662.
Funeral Mass will be held at St. Gregory The Great Catholic Church, Oshawa, on Tuesday, September 20 at 10:00 a.m. followed by reception at Barnes Memorial until 2:30.
Interment by family following reception at Holy Cross Cemetery, Thornhill. Memorial donations may be made to the St. Vincent de Paul Society in lieu of flowers and may be completed by cheque at the funeral home or direclty by visiting http://ssvp.on.ca/rc/donations.php
